Decluttering and organizing are liberating

I've read a few books about organizing and decluttering, and believe in filling one's space and life with items that support their desired self, using minimalism to cut out unnecessary things.

Before I moved last year, I realized that I owned many unused items representing an "ideal" version of myself that weren't actually living.

Letting go of these items was liberating, but they also caution against extreme minimalism, finding a "sweet spot" where one controls their possessions.

I then list several practical tips for decluttering, such as paring down by category, asking when an item will be used next, considering replaceability, starting with easy items, decluttering in small chunks, challenging oneself, and focusing on personal progress rather than comparing to others.

The less stuff I have, the more space I have to breathe and feel free

Letting go of items that were tied to your "ideal" self is such a freeing realization, and its really great you found the middle ground. Your tips are pretty solid and interesting. Starting small, focusing on what truly adds value, and challenging yourself are key to making lasting changes. It's all about creating space, both physically and mentally and even spiritually, to feel more present and in control.

Yeah makes sense. Its true that holding onto things tied to who we think we should be can weigh us down . Finding that balance between minimalism and practicality sounds like a clever approach. Do you find any particular decluttering tip works best for you, or is it more about taking small steps consistently?

I for one really like the idea of letting go of "aspirational" items that don't actually reflect your current life; it's such a freeing mindset. Definitely my major take away from here
